Preparing Your Vehicle To Pick Up A Friend Or Loved One

Posted on

If you are going to pick up a friend or relative from the airport, you may be very excited. However, the appearance of your vehicle is likely to make a lasting impression. Here are some detailing steps to take that can help your vehicle meet your visitor's approval.

Remove All Extras Before Starting A Deep Clean

The first step to having a clean vehicle is removing anything that you do not use. Bring a cardboard box out to your vehicle to collect items you know you will not be needing during the airport trip. You can always place this box in the trunk area if you are unsure as to whether a particular item will come in handy.

Spray The Interior To Provide Shine And Fragrance

It is best to start from the top of your vehicle's interior and work your way to the bottom when you clean. This way, all debris that you loosen from the ceiling, walls, fixtures, dashboard, and doors end up on the floor. This helps to reduce the amount of work you need to perform as it collects in one area for removal. Spray down all surfaces with a detailing cleanser. You may want to pick one with a scent that you enjoy as you are likely to smell remnants for a few days after your cleaning session. Use glass cleaner to remove smudges from the interior windows and windshield.

Vacuum All Areas Well To Remove Debris

After cleaning the bulk of your vehicle's interior, turn toward the floors to remove all debris that has dropped to this area. If you decide to go to a car wash to do the vacuuming, bring along a clean piece of cloth and a spray cleaner so that you can clean the end of the apparatus used for debris removal before it touches your floors.

Provide Areas For Storage And Comfort

Your friend or relative may want to relax during the ride back to your place. Make sure to provide them with ample space for their luggage either in your back seat area or trunk. If your vehicle does not have cup holders, consider investing in a plastic holder you attach to a vent or dashboard area for your visitor's convenience. Add a vehicle neck pillow or lumbar support device for comfort.
